Hello everyone! Dustin Kidd here.

　Today, Kaisei Junior High School received a prestigious award from the Nippon Zenkokai, a national organization that recognizes groups and individuals for their good deeds. Kaisei was selected in the field of Contributing to International Understanding in recognition of our New Zealand study program that our second-year students attend every year.

　The actual award ceremony was in Tokyo last month, but we weren’t able to attend, so we were presented the award today by Mr. Yasuo Araki, the vice president of the Shimane Branch of Nippon Zenkokai.

　This award is a real honor for our school, and it shows what a great job our students have done in creating a bridge between Japan and New Zealand. It should also motivate the students who go on the trip in following years to work even harder while they are in New Zealand.

　今日、開星中学校は日本善行会から栄誉ある賞をいただいた。日本善行会は個人や団体の善い行いを評価する全国の団体で、開星は中学２年生の生徒が毎年参加するニュージーランド研修で認められ、国際貢献の分野で選ばれた。

　先月東京で行われた表彰式には出席できなかったので、今日は日本善行会島根県支部副支部長の荒木八洲雄氏から表彰していただいた。

　この表彰は学校にとって大変名誉のあることで、ニュージーランドと日本の架け橋をつくるのにどれぐらい開星中の生徒が立派にがんばったかを物語っている。今後、ニュージーランド研修に取り組む生徒の励みになるはずだ。
